Fire Door Installation: a clearly scoped service
A fire door is more than a door leaf. The frame, leaf, hinges, closer, latch, seals, glazing and other ironmongery need to form a compatible assembly appropriate to the opening and the required performance. We survey the opening, review the available specification and agree practical details before products are ordered.
Installation can cover a single replacement, flat entrance and communal doors, riser and plant-room doors, or a phased programme across several buildings. Access, occupancy, finishes and handover requirements are considered from the start.
What the service can include
- Opening and access survey
- Doorset and ironmongery coordination
- Careful removal and installation
- Operational and visual quality checks
- Photographic completion records
Quality, coordination and records
Work is checked for operation, closing and latching, visible gaps, ironmongery and the interface with the surrounding construction. The agreed handover can include opening references, photographs and notes for any outstanding actions. Where the required performance or supporting evidence is unclear, the point is raised before installation rather than assumed.
Who we work with
- Managing agents and housing providers
- Facilities and compliance teams
- Schools, care settings and workplaces
- Main contractors and refurbishment teams
Important scope and compliance points
The required doorset and installation detail should follow the building design, fire strategy, fire risk assessment and applicable building regulations. Government guidance emphasises that replacement work should be completed by a competent person. See the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 fire door guidance for the current England guidance.
